Velocix touts cost-saving Hybrid-cloud Origin at ANGA COM
New design improves VOD and nPVR scale-out efficiency
ANGA COM - May 23 - 25, Cologne
Velocix, the carrier-grade cloud TV software provider, will highlight its Hybrid-cloud Origin, which improves the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of expanding video on demand (VOD) and network-based personalised video recording (nPVR) services, at ANGA COM 2023 (Hall 7, HUB 2).
With Velocix’s Hybrid-cloud Origin, on-premises servers provide peak delivery efficiency, while cloud storage offers instantaneous capacity for traffic peaks and inexpensive archiving for deep content libraries. Intelligent management software shuttles content between deployment environments to maximise performance.
Jim Brickmeier, CEO at Velocix, said: “Velocix’s Hybrid-cloud Origin harnesses the strengths of cloud and on-premises deployment models to provide video service operators with a way to control scale-out costs and support the rapid growth of revenue-generating streaming services.”
For live recording services like nPVR, Hybrid-cloud Origin uses a high-performance on-premises storage tier to host the most recent content recordings which are most likely to be viewed by subscribers, while a low-cost cloud storage tier supports expanded libraries of less popular recordings. Content is automatically migrated between storage and delivery tiers to maximise efficiency. Similarly, for VOD, the newest and most popular content is stored on-premises, while infrequently watched ‘long-tail’ content is hosted in the cloud to streamline operations and reduce costs.
In addition to its Hybrid-cloud Origin, Velocix will also showcase its new multi-CDN switching and video analytics solutions, as well as its carrier-grade CDN technology at ANGA COM.
