Proximus optimises delivery of Pickx multiscreen services with Velocix Analytics
Recently deployed by Proximus, this SaaS streaming analytics application gains instant insights spanning streaming efficiency, viewing experience and customer device behaviour
Velocix, the carrier-grade cloud TV software provider, has announced that Proximus, Belgium’s largest convergent telecoms player, has optimised the delivery of its Pickx multiscreen video services with performance insights from Velocix Analytics.
Recently deployed by Proximus, this SaaS streaming analytics application provides deep insights into the performance of the Velocix CDN plus detailed metrics about the viewing experience and customer device behaviour.
In addition to providing in-depth strategic insights for Proximus’ engineering teams, Velocix Analytics supports day-to-day operational tasks such as CDN capacity planning to ensure the video platform is scaled to meet traffic bursts for major live events, as well as aligning with longer term viewership projections.
Velocix Analytics is a cloud-native application powered by an advanced processing engine, which supports granular data analysis and ultra-high transaction rates for near-real time performance, even with the largest scale streaming platforms.
Raphaël De Beys, TV Platforms Lead, at Proximus said: “With instant access to a boundless array of video streaming data, we have the critical intelligence needed to drive gains in our service quality and plan the build-out of our video platform with greater confidence.”
Jim Brickmeier, CEO at Velocix, added: “Delivering class-winning video services in a highly competitive national market demands intuitive, data-driven decision-making, and we’re delighted to support Proximus as it continues to advance the performance of its market leading multiscreen services.”
Serving close to 1.7 million TV customers, Proximus is a key provider in the digital TV market in Belgium. The company, which has been offering IPTV services since 2005, announced the launch of its Android TV based Pickx video service in June of 2019, and expanded its offering with the launch of the Pickx app on Apple TV in 2020. With its unique personalisation capabilities, Pickx makes it easier for consumers to discover, browse and watch the content that suits their specific interests.
Velocix's carrier-grade content delivery software supports high-capacity live, on-demand, time-shifted video and cloud DVR applications, enabling video service providers to rapidly scale-out their premium multiscreen services using an open video network architecture.
